Here are 11 tips to accomplish an effective “Partnership with Self.”

1. Ask yourself, “What is my passion? What do I enjoy the most? What strengths do I have?”

2. Develop written personal and professional mission statements that are mutually supportive.

3. Ask yourself, “What are all of my roles?” How many hats do I wear?” Then, prioritize and establish short- and long-term goals for each role.

4. Ask yourself, “What are all the steps or activities required to accomplish my goals? “

5. Develop a weekly plan or calendar that includes allocated time blocks for each of your roles and goals.

6. Consider ways you can ensure that you stick to your plan. What are the results, personal and professional, that you would gain or lose if you did or did not do that activity?

7. Remember - there is a huge difference between “doing the right things” - effectiveness and “doing things right” - efficiency. Constantly strive to first become more effective.

8. Ask yourself, “Should I be doing this, or would someone else be more interested or qualified?”

9. Delegate, delegate, delegate – whenever it is not your passion or strength!

10. Ask yourself, “Who do I know who can help me?” Evaluate your Return on Investment if you were to hire, outsource or partner with someone for the task.
